Microteaching 4

Hello! Here are the dishes prepared for Jannah, Emilia and Yani for Microteaching 4.

Topic:
Healthier food choices may taste bland and look boring. Show with examples how our regular diet can be made healthier and more appetising.

The teachers prepared a purple-and-pink modern-dining setting this week.

This quiche made me really hungry.

This would be perfect for breakfast too! Succulent kebabs!

Nasi Goreng in a green apple! Decked with roses made from cucumber and tomato slices. Really pretty!

These were the dishes prepared by Esther and I:

The zucchini slices and chicken cubes were a little charred haha! But the marinate was delicious, enjoyed it loads!

We gobbled this up immediately after microteaching. Yum!

Salmon and spinach quiche! Yum! Wish we would have prepared more of it. It tasted great!

Our R&R session!

Our R&R session!
a Japanese Restaurant @ Lower Seletar

Homely Setting.. ..

Amelia ordered Japanese Curry Don

Chunks of beef and pork in mild spicy curry sauce.. ..
Combination of different texture of beef & chicken adds on to the mouth-feel of the entire dish.. .. .

 I ordered the Katsu Don..

Looks ordinary.. But taste "not ordinary"..
The egg white and yolk is runny.. smooth, slips down your tongue instantly..

Esther ordered salmon fish head with soba

What this? Fish eye has plenty of nutrients

It helps to lowers the risk of muscular degeneration, contains collagen protein and unsaturated fatty acids.

Our side dish

Baby shrimps.. Eat with the shell and head..

Microteaching 3

Hi everyone!
This were the dishes Esther and I made for this week's microteaching (6 Oct 2009), taught by Lee Kuan, Zuzi and Jessica.
Topic:
Modern technology in food production and household equipment has helped make food preparation at home faster and easier. Show how healthy dishes could be prepared using a variety of such technology.

Chicken rice with Acar.

This was Esther's favourite dish! The rice cooker was used to steam the chicken and cook the rice.

Wholemeal egg tart (left) and Chicken Pao (right)

I personally enjoyed the egg tart since (as mentioned earlier) I love sweet food! The food processor was used to mix the butter and flour, while the oven was used to bake the tart.

The chicken pau was, in our opinion, the most enriching lesson we had so far! We've learnt a lot on the theories behind the procedures. The electric steamer was used for steaming the pau.

2nd Microteaching (Setting: @ the Bird Park)

2nd Microteaching (Setting: @ the Bird Park)

Presented By ~ Amelia, Novia, Rainie

Presentation: The use of lunch boxes for the topic on ready-packed-meals, similar lunchbox design for all three dishes, accessories suit the theme of the day.

Our Products.. ..

Notes to Consider: Japanese Curry Rice - Place rice in the larger compartment, Curry consistency must be thick (w/o black peppercorn - not glamorous)
Shepard's Pie - Flavouring of meat by tomato sauce is NICE!

Pictures For Food at Day Nursery

Theme: Food for Children at the Day Nursery

Here~ Nice display of the overall presentation of the 3dishes done by Farah's Group

1st Dish: HomeMade Chicken Nuggets
2nd Dish: Seafood Fuseilli
3rd Dish: Chocolate Muffin

More of Our Product!

Yummy! Although my chicken nuggets were too salty (ops added too much salt) but the ingredients used for the marination flavoured the nuggets well. The fuseilli turn out well regardless of it being too watery. I love the Chocolate muffins!!

Some Problems we Encounter

--> Problem: Our muffins did not rise! Could be due to insufficient baking soda added or the folding was insufficient.

Some Shots @ Cafe Iguana

Some random shots at cafe iguana..

Serve great mexican food but too full to have those. The cafe was full when we got there..

Ordered Mango Magarita and comes with complimentary nachos with salsa sauce. Just in time, for the last order for their Happy hour! :) Mango Margarita is kinda of addictive.. Smooth and great combination between tequilla and mango!

Next on, is the red wine! 2005 Syrah Barbieri . . Got a voucher to pay for it though. :D Not a wine conissour but it has a smooth consistency. Learnt a lesson that day. Red wine must be left open in ice for about half an hour before drinking. Served best when chilled !!

MicroTeaching 1

Hi everyone!

These were the dishes taught by Farah, Elizabeth and Claire today (15 Sept 2009). They were the first group to kick-start a series of upcoming microteaching lessons for DCX521/QCX521. Esther and I prepared them.

***

Homemade Chicken Nuggets with Mashed Potato and Vegetable Sticks

The protein, carb and vegetable portions were just right for nursery kids. Heart-shaped nuggets will definitely appeal to them, though I'm not sure about the raw carrot sticks. This would surely make a balanced meal though.

***

Tomato Prawn Fusilli

Esther personally likes this dish the most.

***

Strawberry Cupcake

This was my personal favourite, probably since I've always had a sweet tooth. Preferred eating the cupcake without the icing. Had difficulty spreading the pink icing onto the cake though, I was too rough! Smashed 2 cupcakes while trying to apply it (I'm sorry Esther!).

This is my first time trying this resturant. Goodness, i was HOOKED! These are some of their famous dishes.

Spicy CharSiu Ramen w Soft Boil Egg (One of the three Ramen on the menu)

" Don't belittle this! The springy noodles and the flavoured soup base complements well together with a loadful of spring onions. Spicy broth makes it appetising and want to have more.. .. .. "

                                            My Favourite -------->
" The Soft boil egg is superb. The best i have eaten so far. The yolk, soft and runny and well flavoured.
De-li-cious ! !

More Photos

"Must Try! Grilled Char Siew.. Served piping hot. The tender slices of char siew melts in your mouth and the fragrant of bbq slice is awsome!
